Educate. Empower. Enrich.

The Dell Rapids Carnegie Public Library was the culmination of a 10-year effort by the leading women in Dell Rapids to have a modern library constructed in town. Industrialist Andrew Carnegie offered $6,000 toward the buildin if the City would pledge $500 annually for operating expenses. On March 16, 1910, the library was dedicated.

In the summer of 2014, the library underwent a building renovation and expansion project, double the size of the library and making it ADA accessable. The Dell Rapids Carnegie Public Library was re-dedicated in May 2015.

Today, the library provides a variety of materials including books, magazines, newspapers, audiobooks and DVDs. The library also offers the following programs and services to the community:

  • Reading challenges for children, teens and adults
